Screening-Level Risk Assessment

Detail

Scientific Management Decision Point (a) USEPA Step 1 and 2/U.S. Navy Tier 1 Screening Ecological Risk Assessment Pearl Harbor Sediment RI/FS, December 1999, Pacific Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii 96860

Point of Contact:

Michelle Yoshioka – Pacific Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii 96860

Summary:

This Step 1 and 2 Screening Risk Assessment (SRA) is part of the Remedial Investigation (RI) for Pearl Harbor Sediments. It evaluates potential for risk for concentrations of Chemicals of Potential Concern (COPCs) measured in sediments and a variety of wild-caught organisms collected from Pearl Harbor. This SRA assesses COPCs according to sediment quality benchmarks, sediment toxicity, and bioaccumulation. Based on these lines of evidence all COPCs are carried forward to the Baseline Ecological Risk Assessment (BERA). This does not infer final risk, estimates for final risk will be developed in the BERA.
