Measurement Endpoint
A measurable biological response to a stressor that can be related to the valued characteristic chosen as the assessment endpoint (EPA 1997).
Media
Specific environmental components (e.g., air, water, and soil) that are subject of regulatory concern and activities (EPA 1997).
Model
A formal representation of some component of the world. Models may be mathematical, physical, or conceptual. Models used in environmental analysis range from mathematical simulations of ecosystem dynamics to statements that non-exceedence of a toxicological endpoint (e.g., EC50) will adequately protect an exposed biotic community (Suter 1993).
