The online center for public information and involvement in preparation of the Northeast Reliability Interconnect Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

The United States Department of Energy (DOE) has prepared an environmental impact statement (EIS) to evaluate potential environmental impacts associated with the construction, connection, operation, and maintenance of Bangor Hydro-Electric Company's (BHE's) proposed transmission line between the U.S. and Canada. The EIS was prepared in response to an application for a Presidential permit amendment for BHE's originally proposed second 345-kV transmission tie line to New Brunswick. The EIS addresses potential impacts associated with a modification of the previously authorized transmission line route, as well as three other alternative routes. One of the alternative routes is the originally permitted route, and is considered the No Action alternative (i.e., no amendment of the Presidential Permit). Potential impacts associated with rescinding the Presidential permit are also addressed.
