MARSSIM Course Descriptions
Argonne offers three different MARSSIM training courses
customized for technical staff, managers, and the public.
A key objective of MARSSIM training workshops conducted by Argonne is
to tailor courses to the needs of different audiences
and give the participants practical knowledge that can be immediately
applied for planning and implementation at specific sites.
Argonne offers three MARSSIM courses to address the needs of management
and operations representatives, program or project managers, and the
public.
Course Descriptions
Follow the links below for individual course descriptions for Argonne’s
MARSSIM training courses.
- Three-Day

A three-day MARSSIM workshop intended for management and operations
representatives from the site’s responsible agency, regulators,
and private contractors involved in cleanup and decommissioning activities.
- MARSSIM for Managers Training
A one-day MARSSIM overview workshop for project and program managers
responsible for remediation of radiologically contaminated sites.
- MARSSIM
for the Public Training
Public outreach and education related to the cleanup of radiologically
contaminated sites are the focus of a two- to three-hour MARSSIM
workshop.
Who Should Attend
Individuals who are responsible for day-to-day implementation of MARSSIM-based
site investigation, remedial action, and closure activities should attend
our three-day workshop.
Supervisors responsible for developing, reviewing, and implementing
MARSSIM-based activities should attend the one-day MARSSIM for
Managers workshop.
The MARSSIM for the Public workshop is designed for
members of the general public or restoration advisory board members.
Scheduling MARSSIM Training
MARSSIM training workshops can be scheduled to match the location, time
availability, content, and level of detail needed by the participants.
Workshops for individuals who will be closely involved with MARSSIM
implementation typically cover three days. The MARSSIM for Managers workshop
generally lasts one day, while MARSSIM workshops for public stakeholders
are usually two to three hours long.
Individuals interested in MARSSIM training should contact Argonne for
information on upcoming classes that may have open participation.
Cost of MARSSIM Training
The cost of each MARSSIM training workshop is determined by a variety
of factors including duration, location, and number of participants.
Workshops can be conducted for any number of federal or state agency
employees plus a cleanup project’s public stakeholders, contractors,
and regulators. A cost estimate for training can be determined by contacting
Bob Johnson at (630) 252-7004 or rljohnson@anl.gov.
