Figure 1 shows some of the beneficial uses of DU (identified circa 1996), the amount of DU inventory that they might consume, and a subjective judgment of the development status of each. The DOE would prefer to see the entire DU inventory cost-effectively consumed for beneficial uses and to avoid the direct disposal of this material.
